Cleveland claim 20th win of the season to spoil another historic night for Jokic

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Denver Nuggets 126:114 at home in another regular-season game of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The best team in the league marred a historic night for Nuggets star Nikola Jokic. The Serbian center was once again at his best for the 2023 champions, finishing with a triple-double – 27 points, 20 rebounds and 11 assists. With it, he surpassed the legend Magic Johnson for most regular season triple-doubles with 139 and now occupies third place all-time. Only Russell Westbrook (200) and Oscar Robertson (181) are ahead of him.

Jokic received help from the rest of his teammates, but it was not enough. Michael Porter Jr. finished with 24 points and 7 rebounds, Jamal Murray added 19 points, Aaron Gordon scored 18, and Christian Braun and Westbrook each contributed 10 points.

For the Cavaliers, four basketball players finished with 20 or more points. Donovan Mitchell led all scorers with 28. Darius Garland added 24 points, Caris LeVert finished with 21 and Evan Mobley scored 20. Center Jarrett Allen was also helpful, finishing with 8 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. The Cavs made 22 three-pointers.

Cleveland reached its 20th win of the season, with 3 losses, and is the leader in the East. Denver is eighth in the Western Conference with 11 wins and 9 losses. In their next games, the Nuggets play Washington Wizards away, while the Cavaliers have a match against Charlotte Hornets.
