Zelensky thanked "Trump for his firm determination to bring this war to a just end"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his "deep gratitude" to Donald Trump for his "firm determination" to end the war with Russia after meeting the US president-elect in Paris.

French President Emmanuel Macron hosted talks with Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump at the Elysee Palace on Saturday.

"The most important thing is to work together to end this war - that is our top priority. At the meeting in Paris we focused on exactly that," Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in X.

"I again express my gratitude to President Macron for organizing this meeting, as well as my deep appreciation to President Trump for his firm determination to bring this war to a just end," the Ukrainian leader added.

Donald Trump has long claimed that once in office he would end the nearly three-year conflict over "24 hours," raising fears in Ukraine that it could be pressured into making major territorial concessions to Russia in exchange for peace.

On Sunday, the president-elect called for an "immediate ceasefire," writing on Truth Social that Volodymyr Zelensky was ready to "reach an agreement and end this madness." I BGNES
