Serbian churches ring bells in protest against the UN resolution on Srebrenica

Serbian churches began ringing their bells at noon today to express their disapproval of the genocide resolution that will be tabled at the United Nations later in the day, AFP reported.

Serbian Patriarch Porfiry called on all believers to "pray fervently, keep calm, show mutual solidarity and stand firm for what is right, despite the unjust accusations made by the United Nations."

BGNES recalls that in July 1995, in the Bosnian enclave of Srebrenica, the Serbian forces, commanded by General Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic, massacred over 9,000 people in just a few days. To date, the bodies of over 8,000 of them have been found. They are buried in the Potochari area near Srebrenica. /BGNES
