Borisov to US congressmen: key bilateral projects were adopted with GERB votes

The USA and Bulgaria are strategic partners and our two countries will continue to work together on all important topics. This was stated by GERB leader Boiko Borisov during a meeting with American congressmen who are participating in the spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Sofia, BGNES reported.

Borisov introduced the American guests to all the decisions of the Bulgarian Parliament in the field of defense and energy, which were adopted in the last 9 months. He emphasized that without the will and support of GERB, it would not have been possible: the adoption of decisions to provide military aid to Ukraine; the conclusion and ratification of a contract with the USA for the acquisition of a new main combat vehicle for the Stryker infantry; the adoption of bills related to the acquisition of the F-16 block 70 combat aircraft; the adoption of up-to-date mobilization plans, consistent with the new NATO defense plans; the adoption of a defense investment program until 2032, which foresees over BGN 9 billion investments in new armaments and equipment; licensing and supply of non-Russian nuclear fuel for Kozloduy NPP; starting negotiations with Ukraine for the sale of the equipment intended for the Belene NPP project; start of the construction of the 7th and 8th units of the Kozloduy NPP EAD with AP 1000 technology; adoption of a decision in connection with the Vertical Corridor initiative of the gas transmission operators of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine and Moldova for the transfer of additional volumes of natural gas from diverse and reliable sources.

"During the conversation, I assured my fellow congressmen that the stronger GERB is, the more categorical the guarantees will be for Bulgaria's Euro-Atlantic orientation in defense, energy and foreign policy," Borisov said in conclusion. /BGNES
