The basketball world bids farewell to Dejan Milojevic

Dozens of former and current basketball players and coaches bid farewell today to the sudden death of Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojevic. The 46-year-old Serbian specialist passed away after suffering a heart attack during a Warriors team dinner in Salt Lake City.

Milojevic was buried in his hometown of Belgrade. A number of basketball figures came to say their last goodbyes, including Golden State coach Steve Kerr and former Warriors player Zaza Pachulia. Željko Obradović, Nemanja Bjelica, Aleksandar Džikić, Darko Miličić and many others also said goodbye to Milojevic.

Last Saturday, a commemorative ceremony was also held at the Belgrade City Hall.

Dejan Milojevic left a huge mark on European basketball as a player with Buducnost, Partizan, Valencia and Galatasaray teams, and subsequently as a coach for Mega Basket and Buducnost in Europe. He was part of Kerr's staff in Golden State from 2021, becoming a champion with the Warriors a year later. Last month, the Warriors honored their assistant coach before a 134-112 win over the Atlanta Hawks. /BGNES
