12th Monte-Carlo Fashion Week: Diverse and Sustainable Designs on the Runway

From April 22 to 26, prestigious visitors and resort and cruise collections were present at the twelfth Monte-Carlo Fashion Week. The primary themes of this year's fashion presentations and shows were diversity, inclusivity, and sustainability. Following the formal opening in the Town Hall of the Principality, the festivities proceeded at the exclusive Yacht Club de Monaco, Hello Monaco reported.

The latest book by Federico Marchetti

The book launch by Federico Marchetti, the creator of Yoox Net-a-Porter, the president of the Sustainable Markets Initiative Fashion Task Force, which was established by King Charles III, and a member of the Giorgio Armani board of directors, were among the highlights. He gave a presentation of his book, "The Adventures of an Innovator," to Justin Highman, the MEB's deputy managing director, during their interview. Federico Marchetti, a digital entrepreneur and pioneer of sustainable fashion, was given the Positive Change Award at the Fashion Awards gala.

An early look at the Olympic uniforms

Stella Jean, the event's godmother, launched the catwalks with a collection made in association with Umbrian artisans. She revealed a preview of Haiti's Olympic gear, which will be on display for the entire world to see during the Paris 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

The collection by Gracey Owusu Agyemang, the recipient of the Sustainable Emerging Designer Award, was centered around sustainability. The upscale line, which was produced in association with Khudija Zaib's co-founding company Dijágo Studios, showcases Afro-Asian workmanship and culture.

Repurposed sails used to create clothing

Cashmere and the beach Federica Nardoni Spinetta's Monaco collection, which focused on the idea of circularity and was made from recycled sails from the Yacht Club of Monaco, took an environmental approach.

Promoting female entrepreneurs

In addition to hosting Pop-Up events, the Fashion Hub was the site of the Monaco Women in Finance Institute Symposium, which aimed to advance female entrepreneurship and inclusiveness, as well as a new initiative to combat violence against women.

Monaco-made lingerie

Fashion displays proceeded into the week, under the careful observation of distinguished guests, such as Claudio Betti of Spinnaker (member of the Board of Directors of Camera Buyer Italia, recipient of the Ethical & Sustainable Buyer Award). These featured the exquisite A'Biddikkia brand from Sicily, the Victoria Silvstedt by Marli Dresses collection, the couture of Japanese designer Mami Okano, a Riviera collection featuring Leslie Monte Carlo, and the genuine and sophisticated lingerie from Les Dessous de Monaco.

An additional noteworthy event occurred when Chiara Ferragni mentored a group of up-and-coming designers by bestowing an award to Les Dessous de Monaco, a Haute Couture lingerie business distinguished by its 100% Made-in-Monaco collection.

The Pavillon Bosio Academy of Fine Arts of Monaco developed the stage decor for the closing ceremony. Young artists from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts in London, received the Educational Award during the closing ceremony. /BGNES
