The annual award for the most successful and stylish Bulgarians BG Fashion Icon 2024 in the "Art" category goes to Nikki Sotirov, actor, director and producer. And it is no wonder that after 9 years again one of Bulgaria’s internationally recognized movie stars gets to receive the highest award of style in fashion, which expresses his inner world and emotional highs and lows with the „unbearable lightness of being”. BGNES talked with him at the BG Fashion Icon 2024.
It is with great pleasure that I say hello to Mr. Nikolay Sotirov. He received the BG Fashion Icon Award. How does it feel though as far as we understand, it's not the first time?
"Well, it's the second time and I repeat, again I'm delighted because this award is integral. It's not just for vision, it's for professional achievement and worthy spiritual presence."
The acceptance speech of Niki Sotirov was blooming with gratitude and well-selected words, only the ones blessed with the art of speaking on stage and in the movies possess.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, dear friends, Revered, Professor, Doctor! Deep bow and respect to all other academic titles you have, but I want to say, "My dear friend, Lubo!" Thank you for making a cult out of aesthetics and beauty every God-given day in a very aristocratic, elevated and noble way and as a true crusading knight you defend the primordial cause that only love and beauty will save this very sick world of ours.”
"This is most important. And when the cult of "beauty will save the world" becomes a reality, then you have a newly found motivation, a novel self-confidence. We have to live beautifully. Life is one.
For an actor, clothes are part of life. In the way that perfume is part of the first perception of personality. How often you turned to clothes in your life, when you had to make a first impression?
"Honestly, I obey to some inner intuition, dictate, will of mine, whatever you want to call it. I dress the way I feel. And if it's "attractive", then I feel "attractive". If it's "more ethnic", then I feel "ethnic". Clothing is an absolute reflection of my momentary state of mind or emotion. I mean I never pre-arrange what I should wear. I like it, put it on, and do it. Let me repeat, the garment is nothing if you don't live in it."
