Musk demanded the firing of Disney CEO Bob Iger

The X owner and billionaire conspiracy theorist has lashed out at Disney CEO Bob Iger over the company's decision to pull ads from his vulnerable social media platform and said Iger should be forced out of his job.

"He should be fired immediately," wrote Musk, who often uses his powerful position to harass his critics. "Walt Disney is turning in his grave because of what Bob did to his company".

Disney representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Iger is credited with turning Disney into an entertainment giant through a series of well-executed acquisitions -- Star Wars, Marvel Studios, and Pixar -- during his first tenure as CEO.

Disney, along with several other major companies, stopped advertising on the X platform last month after Musk endorsed an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory popular among white supremacists. Last week, Musk half-heartedly apologized for the post after a host of companies ended their relationship with X, but he also issued a scathing message to companies that refuse to order ads from his social media platform.

During the summit, Musk took a swipe at Iger, speaking out against the Disney boss after he explained earlier in the day that the entertainment giant decided to stop advertising on X because of Musk.

"We just felt that the association with ... Elon Musk and X was not necessarily positive for us," Iger said.

Since Musk took over the social network in late 2022, he has made some decisions that have contributed to a sharp increase in hate speech, misinformation, and conspiracy theories on the platform.

Musk himself has repeatedly contributed to the toxicity of X. Most recently, he has promoted the false - and dangerous - conspiracy theory "Pizzagate". Since acquiring the company, he has also vilified the press, made nasty attacks on the League for the Defense of Human Rights, and encouraged extremists on the platform.

The lack of major advertising partners has taken a huge financial toll on X, which generates most of its revenue from advertising. Musk himself admitted at the DealBook Summit that the current dearth of big advertisers will likely spell the death of his company.

"What this advertising boycott will do is kill the company," Musk frankly stated./BGNES
