Spielberg: The attack by Hamas is an unspeakable barbarity against the Jews

Steven Spielberg, director of the multi-Oscar-winning 1993 film Schindler's List, has spoken out against the "unspeakable barbarity" of Hamas' attacks on Israel since October 7.

According to Haaretz, the Hollywood veteran made the comments, his first since the start of the Israel-Gaza war, in an article posted on the website of the University of California Shoah Foundation, which he founded. The center collects and acquires testimony from survivors and witnesses of Hamas attacks, as it already does from Holocaust survivors.

"There are several meetings going on right now with people from the Holocaust. I never imagined that in my lifetime I would see such unspeakable barbarism against Jews," said Spielberg.

The director stated that the war in Gaza has reopened old wounds for the Jewish people and that the testimonies of those caught up in it are as important as those of World War II:

"Both initiatives, the recording of interviews with survivors of the October 7 attacks and the continued collection of Holocaust testimonies, aim to fulfill our promise to survivors that their stories will be recorded and shared in efforts to preserve history and work towards a world without antisemitism or hatred of any kind. We must remain united and steadfast in these efforts," he added./BGNES
