Zelensky: Ukraine shot down a Russian Su-25

Soldiers from Ukraine's 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade shot down a Russian Su-25 fighter jet in the Donetsk region on May 4, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in his evening address.
Russia has been carrying out intense attacks in multiple areas on the eastern front, which covers much of Donetsk Oblast, since capturing the town of Avdeyevka in February. Moscow has shifted its focus to Chasiv Yar, potentially opening the way for further offensives in the region.
The Su-25 is used to provide close air support to Russian troops on the ground.
"A job well done. I thank all our soldiers at the front who perform combat tasks at the combat posts," Zelensky said.
According to the General Staff of Ukraine, Russia's total losses during the total war amounted to about 348 aircraft and 325 helicopters.
The General Staff data cannot be independently verified.
Zelensky pointed out that within one day, Russia used eight missiles of various types against Ukraine and dropped nearly 70 guided aerial bombs on border villages and frontline positions.
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Sirsky and the head of Ukraine's military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, informed Zelensky about the "actions of specific units in specific areas" on the front.
"We are currently aware of all aspects of the situation," the president said.
Russian forces are trying to advance in the Liman, Bakhmut, Kupyansk, Novopavlivka and Avdeevka sectors in eastern Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said. /BGNES
