Serbia will host Bulgaria to empty stands because of UEFA punishment for racism

The Euro 2024 qualifier between Serbia and Bulgaria on November 19 will be played in front of empty stands after the Serbian FA was punished by UEFA for racist behavior during the match against Montenegro on October 17.

The Disciplinary Commission of UEFA announced that Serbia was punished to play to empty stands in its next home game and fined 50 thousand euros for "racist behavior of the fans". For other offenses during the same match with Montenegro, Serbia will have to pay nearly 39 thousand euros: for using blinding lasers, throwing torches, selling uinder-the-counter tickets and others. For acts of racism and damage to the stadium, the Football Federation of Montenegro has been fined 20,000 euros and will have to restore 205 broken seats at the Rajko Mitic stadium in Belgrade.

The match between Serbia and Bulgaria will be played at the stadium in Leskovac on November 19 at 16:00 Bulgarian time. Bulgaria is now out of the running to qualify for Euro 2024, but Serbia will be looking for victory to secure one of the top two spots in the group. /BGNES
