EU will use profits from Russian assets for Ukraine

EU countries have agreed "in principle" on a plan to use profits from frozen Russian central bank assets to arm Ukraine, officials said.

"The money will be used to support the reconstruction and military defense of Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression," Belgium, which holds the EU's rotating presidency, announced after a meeting of EU ambassadors.

"There could be no stronger symbol and no better use of this money than to make Ukraine and all of Europe a safer place to live," added European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen. /BGNES
